On Sunday, December 17 Music Director Dr. Randolph P. Laycock presents Parma Symphony Orchestra with Tomáseen Foley’s Troupe: A Celtic Christmas an authentic remembrance of a way of life and of a night before Christmas at a remote farmhouse in the west of Ireland in the 1940s and 50s - the days before the motor car, the television and the telephone. On stage, the spirit of Christmas dances to life when the neighbors gather at each other’s homes to grace the wintry night with traditional Irish Christmas carols, to raise the rafters with the joy of their music and to knock sparks off the flagstone floor with traditional dances, and, most of all, to fill the night with the laughter of their stories.

Tomáseen Foley’s A Celtic Christmas brings to life just such a night – a wholesome, cultural, family feast – direct from the rich table of communal life in the west of Ireland. Storyteller/Director Tomáseen Foley was born on a small farm in the remote parish of Teampall an Ghleanntáin in the West of Ireland and grew up steeped in the culture that was unique to the old communal way of life.

The show’s Director is Grammy Award-winning guitarist William Coulter - an internationally recognized master of the steel-string guitar. He has been performing and recording traditional Celtic and American folk music for more than 25 years. Also featuring: uilleann piper, flute and whistle player and world-champion level traditional Irish Dancer Brian Bigley, violinist - Edwin Huizinga, Traditional Irish vocalist Kara Mathias, singing traditional Irish Christmas carols, and traditional Irish Dancer Erin Hogan.

General admission for the December 17th performance is $20 for adults and $10 for children 17 and under accompanied by an adult. All tickets are available online https://goo.gl/neuadj or at the door beginning at 2:30 PM. Both concerts are 3:00pm at Valley Forge High School Auditorium 9999 Independence Blvd in Parma Heights, Ohio.
