Paradise Lost

A long time ago in a paradise that today seems so far, far away, there were two political parties. In paradise, we all wanted essentially the same things. We wanted to live our lives as we saw fit, free from crime and other interference. We wanted prosperity. We wanted the opportunity to pursue the American Dream. The difference between the parties was how to best provide the opportunity for us achieve what we wanted and when they disagreed, they compromised for the good of paradise. But then factions of the two parties moved so far to the extreme left and right that the two became, in essence, four. And the extremes became inflexible and compromise became taboo. And paradise was lost.

Oh, what I would give to return to paradise. I would love to dump both extremes on a desert island far from any civilization where they could only harm each other while the rest of us got on with our lives in the tranquility of paradise. Just to be double safe, I'd nuke the island into oblivion.

But I have to admit, if I was forced to nuke just one of the extremes, it would be the radical left, the liberal elite. Don't get me wrong, the radical right is bad enough, but they are transparent. They seem to have principles, albeit misguided principles that most of us don't agree with. But at least you know what they stand for. The radical left is sneaky bad. The only principle the liberal elite seem to abide by is that they know best and you better not question their authority. Besides, according to studies by PEW Research and others, liberals become much more radical in their beliefs than conservatives have.

The liberal elite are also more dangerous because they control one of the major parties. They gained control of the DNC while Clinton was President and they are still running it. There is no better evidence of that than the last election. They decided which candidate they wanted and then they did everything they could to rig their primary. The distinguishing characteristic of the liberal elite is they think everyone else is way too stupid to make the right decision, even their own constituents.

When the middle class questioned what they were doing, they turned on them like rabid dogs. They called them a bunch of angry old ignorant white men. They called them irredeemable deplorables. They said they were “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic....” The middle class. The working men and women of this country. The traditional backbone of the Democratic Party. Nothing but a basket of deplorables. Never question the liberal elite. They eat their young.

The very hallmark of our democracy is the peaceful transfer of power. But today the liberal elite are doing everything they can to stop that transfer, everything from trying to shut down free speech to calling for Trump's impeachment for obstruction of justice even though no evidence of his guilt has been presented. To them, a little thing like evidence is immaterial and when they don't get their way they try to make the entire country suffer. Their definition of right and wrong is what they do is right and anyone who disagrees with them is wrong.

Remember the good old days in that paradise where people understood right and wrong? Remember what happened when actual evidence proved that Nixon had participated in the cover-up of a crime? The Republican leadership understood that what Nixon had done was wrong and they told him his choice was to resign or be impeached for obstruction of justice. He resigned.

Remember the outcome when almost the same exact thing happened after the liberal elite took control of the Democratic Party? Not only did Clinton cover-up illegal acts, he committed them. In court, he was fined and he lost his law license due to perjury, a felony. But he refused to resign his office so he was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice. There was ample evidence that he was guilty. He had already been found guilty in a court of law. He even admitted he was guilty. But when it came time to vote on a verdict, Democrats voted not guilty. Every single one of them.

You would think the liberal elite would understand that it was their actions that put Trump in the White House, not his. You would think they would be too ashamed to bring up impeachment since it serves as a reminder of their shameful act during the Clinton impeachment. You would think they would believe that even if (an awfully big if) Trump is guilty, impeachment would just be a waste of time because all the Republicans would vote not guilty anyway. After all, that's what they did. But you would be wrong because the liberal elite have no shame. They only have their definition of right and wrong and they don't really believe in democracy unless, of course, they are the absolute rulers of the “democracy.”

Oh, how I yearn to return to paradise. But, alas, I understand that regardless of what I do, regardless of what anybody does, paradise will remain lost until rational Democrats wake up and retake control of the DNC.
