Parma Heights Hires Newest Police Officer

Parma Heights Mayor Michael P. Byrne administers the Oath of Office to the city's newest Police Officer, Patrolman Bryan Miller.

Bryan L. Miller was sworn-in as the city’s newest Patrolman by Mayor Michael P. Byrne at the start of Monday night’s City Council Meeting (May 22). He begins his new position on Monday, June 5, 2017.

After graduating from high school, Miller enlisted in the United States Army. He served active duty for eight years, during which time he developed leadership and communication skills. In 2016 he was discharged, and enrolled in the Cuyahoga Community College Basic Police Academy. He is currently employed as a Security Officer for the NASA Glenn Research Center.

Mayor Byrne praised both Miller for his qualifications, and Parma Heights Police Chief Daniel Teel for “finding such highly qualified candidates.”

“That helps make certain that Parma Heights remains a safe community,” he said.

Parma Heights Police Chief Daniel Teel congratulated Miller and his family immediately after the swearing-in.

“It’s always an honor to be present as a new officer takes the oath of office. As most know, the process to be selected is competitive. I am confident Bryan will serve our community well,” Teel said. “I would also like to recognize Bryan’s wife and children, as they are also taking on a new responsibility. From this point, there will be many long nights and missed family events. Bryan will need your support as he moves into his new career. On behalf of the police department, congratulations to you and your family.”
