Friends of the Parma Libraries Honor "Friend Of The Year" At Annual Meeting

President of the Board Dianna Kall presents Pat Hilfer with The Friends of the Parma Libraries "Friend of the Year" award.

Pat Hilfer was named "Friend of the Year" at the Friends of the Parma Libraries annual board meeting on Saturday, April 22. Hilfer, who was been a member of the Parma Friends Board for many years, was so honored because of her dedicated time as a board member, officer, program chair and consistent volunteer at book sales. Pat retired as a teacher of  20 years and 15 years as a principal in the Parma City School District.

“We have many wonderful volunteers who share their enthusiasm for libraries and we’re proud to recognize one such outstanding volunteer with this award," said Dianna Kall, President Friends of the Parma Libraries. "Pat shared her life-long enjoyment of reading, libraries and her educational career to carry through with her volunteer efforts.”

The Parma Friends Board annual meeting was held at the Parma Branch where a crowd of more than 50 were  entertained by local magician Gilligan, who performed a show called "What Did I Just Watch? An Exploration of Illusion and the Psychology of Magic." The entertainment came after the board's annual meeting duties, the award to Hilfer and a short meet-and-greet period for prospective members.

The Friends of the Parma Libraries raise money through book sales and events to fund programming and activity supplies at both Parma branches. The Friends group also offers ongoing support to both branches. Membership, open to the public, is $5 per year, and membership materials are available at both Parma branches.
