MyCom Youth Corner

My Commitment. My Community.

MyCom: Connecting Greater Cleveland’s Youth To Their Communities and Their Future

Mission:  To assess and evaluate current youth-oriented programs and services and identify gaps; and develop strategies to fill those gaps

Vision Statement:  By the year 2019, our community will encourage, support, and provide resources and activities so youth will be self-sufficient and have strong core values, which help them become successful adults that are active and an integral part of their community

In three years:  Parma youth are living purposefully in a supportive community. They possess strong core values, are setting goals, and are successfully achieving them.

  1. MyCom community partners offer youth programs and services specifically focused in the areas of: Youth Engagement, Out-of-School Time, Transitions, and Advocacy; while also paying attention to Health & Safety and Youth Employment

  2. Our communities have a dedicated partnership to provide youth with academic and life skills needed to be self-sufficient and self-sustaining adults

  3. A solid strategic plan has been adopted and is reviewed and revised annually to meet the ever-changing needs of youth and outcomes desired

  4. There are safe places to go after school, in the neighborhoods, that provide a comprehensive, asset-based concept and continuum of services as related to the developmental stages of youth

  5. The community supports youth with creative partnership programs to promote healthy development

  6. Youth have a voice in the community and participate in the planning of all future strategic plans

  7. There are multiple media avenues for effective communication to keep youth and adults engaged and knowledgeable about current services and programs for youth

  8. Collaborative avenues of transportation for youth are user friendly and minimal or no cost

  9. Youth and adults coordinate intergenerational culturally diverse activities within communities

  10. The Parma MyCom Goals are known and respected for their creative and innovative methods for reaching all youth so they successfully transition into adulthood
