The Patriot Corner
Turn on your television and turn to your favorite twenty-four hour news channel and you can see the greatest circus that has ever been staged. There is no shortage of talking heads and pundits offering endless analyses and commentary of what is going on in Washington. Colorful graphics light up the screen with words like “The Great Debt Debate”. The phrase “debt ceiling” has become a household term as we are reminded of looming deadlines. We are flooded with politicians pointing fingers at each other and blaming each other for all of this. The President is telling us to “eat our peas” while Republicans whine about a government “addicted to spending”. Our politicians and leaders are acting like puppets on a stage. It doesn't take long for your eyes to glaze over and your brain to switch to “tune out” mode. As you search for something else to watch, you are overcome with the feeling that none of them know what to do. It is clear that we are in uncharted territory. We have never faced a mountain of debt the likes of which we face now. Yet there are larger questions in play here. Lurking behind the inflamed arguments and political bomb throwing a more subtle question begs to be answered. Who is the “puppet master”? Who are we as people and how will we answer this crisis? We need to get this one right!
The choices before us are strikingly simple; we can continue to play this game of “Economic Russian Roulette” where the only winner in any given scenario is the private banking cartel known as the Federal Reserve, or we can opt for a return to the truly American ideal of our own sovereignty. We can subject ourselves to the rule of the “puppet master” or we can choose once again to rule ourselves. What we are seeing and feeling right now are the chains of economic bondage. We are being reduced to serfdom once again as a privileged few are becoming filthy rich off of our misfortune, ignorance and failure to act. Real estate is being gobbled up at pennies on the dollar as more and more homes and businesses are foreclosed upon. America has already been stripped of her industry and innovation as a “service economy” has taken the place of manufacturing. America is being stripped of her wealth right before our eyes as our politicians squabble over insignificant reductions in spending and propose to tax us into oblivion to pay a debt that they incurred. Does anyone hear the question that is screaming at us over all this noise? Is America a sovereign nation any longer?
It is high time to admit that this debt game is over and we have lost. The deck was stacked against us from the start and there never was a way to win. You cannot pay debt off with more debt. You cannot borrow your way to financial security. This goes even deeper than questions over the level of spending and how much is appropriate versus inappropriate. This is way beyond the scope of a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. Does it matter if the budget is balanced when all money in the budget is debt money? What level of debt is enough versus what level is not? When do we stop paying the piper? We stop paying the piper when America chooses to be the sovereign nation we were intended to be! We the people need to demand that the Government of the United States print its own money. We need to demand American Dollars printed debt-free to be the currency of the United States, backed only by the good faith and trust of the people of the United States. “Render unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar,” give the Federal Reserve back its debt money and rebuild our economy with our own. This is the behavior of a sovereign nation. Standing there with our hat in our hand and begging the private banking cartel to be nice to us is sickening!
We need to get this one right! Only a return to the sovereignty of the United States of America will preserve our liberties. There is no other answer. The money changers need to be tossed from the temple and their debt system abolished. We can rule ourselves truly or we can continue to be ruled by a few bankers. All this noise in Washington is just noise until we choose to be free once again!
