Women’s Wellness Retreat Promises Refreshing Balance

Attention women: Strike your balance and refresh your mind and body at the Second Annual HealthiHer, a women’s health and wellness retreat sponsored by Parma Community General Hospital on Saturday, October 16.
Held from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Strongsville Holiday Inn, HealthiHer will offer important screenings such as bone density, balance, posture, and vascular health, to name a few. Guests can choose from a variety of breakout sessions with Parma Hospital physicians including:
• Stephany George, MD, OB/GYN on its role in women’s health
• Cynthia Taylor, DO, on functional and anti-aging medicine
• Kimberly Togliatti-Trickett, MD, on Vitamin D
• Jeffrey Mangel, MD, on urinary incontinence
• James Persky, MD, on treatments for varicose veins
Attendees also can peruse exciting exhibitors offering the latest in aromatherapy, jewelry, makeup and eyewear. A health breakfast and lunch will be accompanied by a Coldwater Creek fashion show. And the invigorating event will culminate with a keynote address from renowned mind/body expert Joan Borysenko, PhD, who will conclude with an experience in mindful meditation.
A licensed psychologist and a pioneer in integrative medicine who taught at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Borysenko will cover the essential skills for mindful awareness in the keynote address at HealthiHer. This eloquent and inspirational keynote speaker blends the latest research with humor and authenticity for a lively presentation. She adjusted her own focus to treating the person behind the disease following her father’s death from cancer. Her research has resulted in 14 books, including the New York Times best seller, Minding the Body, Mending the Mind, and the Public Television special “Inner Peace for Busy People.”
The former columnist for Prevention magazine has been featured in numerous magazines from Vogue to Working Woman. Dr. Borysenko has received rave reviews for her inspiring talks that blend science with real-life experience and “leave the audience thinking, laughing, cheering.” She has addressed the World Bank, major corporations like General Motors and many benefits, such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.
