Over 600 Parma City School (PCSD) students are now prepared for school thanks to local churches and businesses in our communities. On August 14th five local congregations provided families in PCSD with school supplies. The churches involved in this awesome outreach were All Saints Episcopal, Bethel Temple, New Life Fellowship, Parma Baptist and Parma Christian. The congregations not only hosted their site and volunteers to distribute items to the students, but also shopped and filled the backpacks according to grade-level needs. Many of the churches also received numerous donations from its congregational members to help meet the needs of our students.

On August 28th, Immanuel Assembly of God will be providing a back to school outreach to families during their Wild, Wild West annual event. If you have any new school supplies to donate, please contact Immanuel Assembly of God in Middleburg Heights. Donations are greatly appreciated for this largely attended event and the numerous children in need of school supplies.

Huntington Bank partnered with Salvation Army, whom graciously donated the backpacks filled with first day needs. Huntington staff also took time to volunteer to distribute the backpacks at the various outreach sites. In addition, Tri-C West donated drawstring bags for upper level students and Toy- R-Us Parma location provided drawstring bags for pre-school children.

Local businesses also supported the back to school initiative. Staples on Brookpark donated numerous binders, American Eagle Parmatown staff donated supplies, Key Bank donated over eight large boxes of supplies collected from employees and Renaissance church donated additional backpacks and supplies.

PCSD Parma Area Family Collaborative is very appreciative for the support and collaboration that our students receive from our churches, businesses and community partners. This opportunity was made possible through donations and grant funding. It was the second year for the back to school outreach and it would not be possible without donations, hard work and coordination of our local congregations and its members. Thanks again for helping PCSD students to be prepared for the start of the school year and ready to learn.
