Joel’s Place for Children Announces Children and Teen Grief Support

Joel’s Place for Children will hold grief support groups for children and teens at locations in Strongsville and Bay Village.
The peer support groups are open to children and teens ages 5-18 who have experienced the death of someone special in their lives. A support group for parents and/or caregivers of children who are grieving will meet concurrently.
Children and teens can express feelings, share memories, and honor their loved ones in a caring and hope-filled environment. Sessions involve participation in arts and crafts, games, age-appropriate discussions, and other activities designed to help children express their feelings in a safe and supportive atmosphere with other children who have experienced a death. Support groups are conducted by trained facilitators.
Joel’s Place for Children is a non-profit organization that provides services free of charge to families.
Strongsville Location
The support groups will meet every other week from 7:00 – 8:15 pm beginning March 3 at the Cleveland Clinic Strongsville Family Health & Surgery Center at 16761 South Park Center. Additional meeting dates are March 17 and 31, April 13 and 27, and May 12.
Bay Village Location
The support groups will meet on Tuesdays from 7:00 – 8:15 pm beginning January 13 at Bay Presbyterian Church at 25415 Lake Road. Additional meeting dates are January 27, February 10 and 24, March 10 and 24, April 7 and 21, and May 5.
Joel’s Place for Children is also available as a resource for schools and other community organizations.
