“Stories Connect Us”: National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Kate DiCamillo at the Parma-Snow Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library

Beloved, Newbery Award-winning author Kate DiCamillo (Flora & Ulysses, The Tale of Despereaux, Because of Winn Dixie) continues to tour the country during her two-year term as National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, spreading the joy of reading to children of all ages. Kate will appear at the Parma-Snow Branch Public Library to participate in the ribbon cutting for the community mural. The ceremony will be followed by a picnic at 7 pm, Kate will deliver a talk in the library auditorium about how books have impacted her life and encourage communities to read together: “When we read together, we connect. Together, we see the world. Together, we see one another.” The event will be followed by a Q&A.

The National Ambassador program was established in 2008 and is co-sponsored by Every Child a Reader (ECAR), the Children’s Book Council (CBC), and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.

Travel Tips and Photo Ideas

This month Northeast Ohio Personal Computers (NEOPC) welcomes Jerry Slusser with his program "Travel Tips and Photo Ideas". Come to hear common sense travel tips that were learned from experience, and that will make your adventure more enjoyable, less stressful, and result in big savings. How about round trip airfare to Hawaii for MINUS $28? Included will be photo tips from several top National Geographic photographers and from experience gained with the conversion from film to digital. Get the very best from every one of your photographic expeditions.

Jerry has taught photography and Picasa at Rocky River Senior Center and given presentations on both at Rocky River Senior Center and NEOPC. He also does Travelogs at Rocky River Senior Center. Previously, he had a 45 year career in retailing, followed by a transition job driving a limo; this summer “Uber Driver” was added to his resume.
